What We Believe
Belief Statement
Our purpose, as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ at SGBC, is to glorify the only True and Living God
by assembling ourselves regularly, promoting prayer and fellowship, edifying the believers, administering the two ordinances given to the Local church (Baptism and The Lord's Supper) and the Biblical discipline, teaching and preaching the whole counsel of God and actively engaging in the witnessing to others the salvation that is found in Jesus Christ.
Bible is the only authority of faith, practice and all truth (I Tim. 3:16, 17; Matt. 4:4).
Autonomy of the local church (Acts 6:1-7, 15:7,12, 22, 23,25; I Cor. 5:13).
Priesthood of all believers (I Pet. 2:5,9).
Two ordinances - Baptism and the Lord's Supper (Acts 2:41,42; Eph. 2:20; I Cor. 11:26).
Individual soul liberty (I Cor. 10:23-31; Rom. 14).
Saved church membership (Acts 2:41).
Two officers - Pastor and Deacons (I Tim. 2:1-13).
Separation of church and state (Matt. 22: 19-22).
These distinctives as well as the whole counsel of God must be believed, practiced and proclaimed by the Church.
